The battle for The Hawkeye State will have a new chapter written on Thursday with Iowa State looking to stay undefeated against Iowa.

Iowa State’s undefeated start is thanks in large part to their defense, which is sixth in the country in points allowed on a per-possession basis.

The Cyclones will be tasked with trying to turn over an Iowa offense that is No. 1 in the country at taking care of the ball, turning the ball over on just 10.7 percent of their possessions.

On the other side, Iowa State is sixth in the country in turnovers forced on a per-possession basis, forcing one on 26.4 percent of possessions. Iowa is 54th, forcing a turnover every 21.8 percent of their defensive possessions.

With Iowa State allowing opponents to shoot just 26.5 percent from 3-point range, which ranks 19th in the country, and having allowed 70 points or fewer in seven straight games, Thursday’s showdown will have more defense than expected.
